THE 9TH ANNUAL CATSKILL FOREST FESTIVAL

Margaretville, NY: The Catskill Forest Association would like to express their gratitude to all those involved in making the 9th Annual Catskill Forest Festival such an incredible success. The support shown to us by our sponsors, vendors, members, and volunteers ensured that we could again deliver an event that fosters an appreciation of the benefits our forests can provide to local communities.

“With more vendors than ever, and a beautiful sunny day, the 2017 Catskill Forest Festival was the biggest and best I’ve ever seen it,” said John McNaught, CFA’s Forest Program Manager. “A true celebration of our Catskill Forests.” In its 9th year, the Forest Festival featured 58 vendors, accompanied by various demonstrations and activities:

    • The “Tent of Knowledge” – a series of local experts shared their experience and understanding of their forestry-related fields, discussing topics such as Maple Sugaring, Black Bears, Disappearing Trees, and Bird Focused Habitat Management;

    • Demonstrations included Tree Felling, Alaskan Chainsaw Milling, and Fly Casting;

    • Vendors covered a wide array of products and services ranging from Maple Producers, Wood Products, and Arts & Crafts, to Forestry Equipment, Forest Management Education, and Recreation;

    • Fun activities were provided for adults and children alike to enjoy in the form of the Stream Restoration Walk, Pony Rides, Live Music, and Workshops.

The Catskill Forest Association is also thankful to the community for the generosity of their donations. The 10th Annual Forest Festival will be held on July 28th, 2018 at the Village Park in Margaretville.

The Catskill Forest Association promotes responsible stewardship of woodland habitats and their eco-systems. Our mission is to provide services and education to landowners, helping to protect the health and well-being of the woodlands of New York’s Catskill Mountain region.
