One Exceptional Red Maple

October 19, 2018

WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
I have showed this red maple tree’s foliage in previous posts. The tree sits in front of my house; It’s foliage is one of the best I know of, despite this year being terrible for red maple in general. When I first moved to our house, I thought about cutting this tree down. It is one of the most poorly shaped, slowest growing red maple trees around. Normally, healthier trees have better foliage, but this one stands in defiance and is the exception to the rule. So, the tree stays. Instead, I have adapted to it and have grown to like its form and slow growth, which never seems to need pruning.

May the forest be with you,
