Well, it’s at the point now with this tree–white ash–that in some areas, the only ones alive are the few we chemically inject to kill the larvae of the emerald ash borer. June is a full month spent “saving” ash trees via CFA’s TREE SAVER PROGRAM. We inject emmamectin benzoate into the tree that protects it for 2 years. Anecdotally, it seems the borer likes the largest & healthiest ash trees. The ash tree seen in the photo is a large one that has now been protected for 4 years. Hopefully, there will be a biocontrol (predatory insect) that can take up the heavy lifting in the future.
