Forest Therapy

April 1 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$10

What is Forest Therapy?

Forest Therapy is a relational practice that brings people into deeper intimacy with natural places. And one of those natural places is our natural self; it’s a practice that holds the possibility of meeting again the kernel of who we are, what we are born to be, and how we are intended to be of service in the world. Forest Therapy is greatly influenced by and derived from the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, forest bathing which is found to have a number of health benefits including boosted immune function, improved cardiovascular and respiratory health, attention restoration, and a reduction in stress and depression.

What should I expect?

Forest Therapy and Mindful Outdoor Guide Lara Land will walk you through a series of invitations crafted to open your awareness and connection to the more than human, natural living world. Invitations are optional and accessible. Participants are encouraged to explore themselves and the land in ways that resonate for them. Forest Therapy is not a hiking or naturalist walk.

What should I bring?

Dress for the weather. Layers are always recommended. Consider long white socks and other methods of tick bite prevention. Feel free to bring water and snacks.

Who is the guide?

Lara Land is a yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and nature immersion teacher with a focus in trauma sensitivity. She has a Mindfulness Outdoor Guide Certification from Micah Mortali, author of Rewilding, Mindfulness in Nature: Cultivating Embodied Awareness Certification with author of Awake in Nature, Mark Coleman, and is currently pursuing her ANFT Forest Therapy Certification. Lara lives in Andes, NY with her husband Thimo (also a mindfulness and outdoor educator) and their daughter Hannah. You can read more about Lara at www.laraland.us and @laralandyoga on Instagram.
