Ginseng Woods Walk

August 21 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join Anna Plattner, General Manager of American Ginseng Pharm, for a workshop on growing American Ginseng in the Catskill Mountains.

This program is designed to teach participants everything they need to know to start their own backyard ginseng farm. Topics covered include everything from basic ginseng plant identification and history to forest site assessment and hands-on planting demonstrations. Participants will receive a copy of the newly revised version of The Practical Guide to Growing Ginseng by Bob Beyfuss, as well as stratified ginseng seed to do some test plantings at home. Come on out and get ready to grow your own!

Raised in the northern Catskills, Anna has now worked with ginseng for seven years. Anna received her BS from Cornell University, where she majored in Natural Resources. After graduating, she trained under Bob Beyfuss, one of the most renowned experts on American ginseng’s history and cultivation. As General Manager of American Ginseng Pharm, Anna now coordinates all ginseng growing operations on over 200 acres of forested land in the Catskill Mountains.
