Portable Sawmills and Mule Logging Demonstration

August 17 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Don’t miss this incredible demonstration of MULE LOGGING – a full demonstration of skidding and logging techniques using draft mules!

This workshop will be run by David Gibaldi, owner of Stubborn Mule Forestry Services and board member of DAPNET. He’ll take us through the logging process using these incredible animals from beginning to end.

The workshop will begin with a general overview of the draft mules (why work with this particular breed?) and the equipment used in the process. David will explain how he interacts with the animals and how the equipment works.

We’ll explain and demonstrate live the differences between logging with animals and logging with equipment. Many aspects differ, from how the tree is cut, to the preparations of trails, to the process of skidding and bringing the logs out of the forest. We’ll show you then and there how these incredible animals move around logs and carry out this process.

Finally, the wood from the tree that was felled will be turned to lumber during a band sawmill demonstration!

Don’t miss out – this kind of event doesn’t come around too often! A great family event to see these incredible mules at work!

Members free; $10 non-members.
