WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST
Back in Middle School, I remember making the long trip after school from New Paltz to play Monticello in soccer back in the 1990s. Before that, I never really been to that part of Sullivan County. What I do remember–and found quite intriguing–were the many abandoned resorts throughout. Some were quite large and others just a hodge-podge of cabins. In any case, some of these are really being reclaimed by the forest, for sure. I found it ironic how simultaneously beautiful it was to see so many volunteer pear trees flowering among the abandoned resort.
