WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST
In early July, I took my 8-year-old son deep inside one of the more remote areas of the Catskill Mountains for an overnight stay. This section is one of “Dad’s secret spots” as my kids say. I’ve been going to this section since 2004 for 22 years; A good chunk of time for sure. Never did I think as a 23-year-old, that someday bushwacking through the ferns and beech whips, and splashing in the clear cold mountain plunge-pools would be one of my kids. It seems one thing we humans and trees share is change and an urge to regenerate ourselves. In any case, it’s a blessing.
