WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?

Old “crop walls.” Find a lot of these in the woods while hunting. Instead of neatly squared off rock walls that were probably used to fence in livestock, these walls were just thrown together after plowing. Sometimes they are really wide and sometimes look like the one in the photo. Other times they are just thrown into a single pile somewhere. Each time the farmer plowed–i.e. corn, buckwheat, potatoes, etc.–rocks were brought to the surface and removed. Normally, the ground adjacent to such rock walls is smoother than nearby areas.

May the Forest Be with You,
