WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?

Last fall I failed to get a buck, but whatever. The 2 fat does I got were some of the fattest and healthiest I’ve gotten in years. Healthy deer have quite a bit of clean, white fat over their rump. Although deer fat isn’t normally eaten due to its taste and consistency, it’s great for making soap. Before it can be used in the soap-making process, it is rendered or melted down and strained of impurities. I guess you could also use this directly on your skin as a moisturizer; I’ll have to experiment.

May the Forest Be with You,
