WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
Last week I was up in a tree near Cragsmoor, Ulster County and it was blowing snow. I thought after that, my body would begin acclimating to wintry weather. However, my wife convinced me to bring the kids to Florida to my in-laws and now my body is trying to acclimate back to July weather. It’s hot down here in December! Temperatures are near 80 and humid and this northerner is feeling downright whiny, but I’ll get over it. I haven’t been in palm-tree land since 2002. It’s nice seeing the Spanish moss hanging from the trees again. Between the abundance in birds and differing trees, I feel like a fish out of water. Lots of pine and palm, but I miss sugar maple for sure.
