Backyard Maple Sugaring Demonstration 2025

March 8 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Turning maple sap into syrup is an age-old tradition in the Catskills, dating back hundreds of years. As winter sets in, many Catskill residents know that maple season is on its way and have already stocked their woodpiles for a season of boiling. Today, the Catskill Region sits right in the heart of all maple syrup production globally. Why not learn to tap into that resource in your own backyard?

Join us for a short presentation on how to make maple syrup the simple way at home, followed by a hands-on demonstration of tapping trees, hanging buckets, and firing up the backyard evaporator to make a little syrup. Dress warmly, as we will be outdoors for part of the demonstration.

We would like to thank Mike and Becky Porter for their help with this event.

Members: Free | Non-members: $10

This event is limited to 20 participants. If spots are full, you will automatically be added to the waitlist.
