Tree identification is an essential and rewarding skill, especially for those of us who hike, hunt, or own land in the Catskill Mountains. Take a walk with CFA’s Ryan Trapani to identify local Catskill Mountain trees using features like buds, bark, leaves, twigs, needles, and cones!
In addition to identification, we’ll also figure out why that tree might be growing there using a little ‘forest forensics’. This includes other important details like site characteristics, shade tolerance, forest succession, and more. Learn about how past land use may have sculpted the diversity of today’s Catskill forests.
We would like to thank SUNY Delhi for helping make this event possible.
