WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?

Spring is fast approaching. Now is the time to gather cuttings or “scionwood” from your favorite tasting apple or pear tree if you’d like to use them for grafting in April or May. We have scionwood from both named varieties as well as older and unknown (but proven) Catskill varieties too. I normally recommend going with a variety you can’t buy in the store, like one that grew on Naturalist John Burrough’s orchard back in the day, or another old farm from the late 19th/early 20th Century, or some volunteer or wild apple tree we have come to like.
