WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
Went for a walk yesterday near Dry Brook in Arkville & lo & behold I reached for a hemlock branch on the side of the road & found something disturbing. Unfortunately, it was infected by Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA). I found some years ago in Fleischmanns, but HWA has in general not been as common west of Highmount into Delaware County; maybe things are changing. As some of you know, HWA is an insect that normally kills hemlock trees after about 8 or so years.
May the forest be with you,
