WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
Deer season ended early for me this year. Last year it was 2 does & this year 2 bucks & 1 doe (2 deer taken during archery). Got this medium-sized buck on Opening Day of Gun Season. This guy must have been rubbing some hemlocks or pine for sure. He smelled of conifer resin. Saw lots of squirrels, but also lots of red foxes and coyotes this year. Not 1 bear though from my tree-stand. After all these years hunting, I still greatly enjoy my time sitting up in a tree for hours, just watching. For me, nothing really beats the activity of hunting. Everything going on in the world kind of fades away in the background, when the sound of a deer’s hooves pressing firmly upon leaves can be heard nearby.
