WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
Last week John MacNaught & I treated the largest white ash I’ve ever seen in Delaware County (49″ in diameter at breast height). As many of you know, ash is being killed by Emerald Ash Borer. We hope to preserve this ash into the future. In other news, I’ve been seeing eastern tent caterpillars on apple trees. On some trees, they can be a problem since they can defoliate many leaves. You can use an organic pesticide called Bt; it only kills caterpillars & nothing else (like butterflies, bees, etc.).
May the forest be with you,
