WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
I learned this simple technique from Jim Waters–former Executive Director of CFA–back in 2007. It works great to make simple bookends for your firewood pile. Just use line or rope and tie from upright pallet on the side and then to the bottom pallet. If you don’t have a pallet for the bottom, you can tie onto a large rock or whatever instead. As you stack firewood onto it, the wall cinches together. It has worked great for many years without the need to construct something more elaborate. In place of pallets for the sides, you can also tie onto a series of T-posts; They work too. Also, I use old carpeting to cover my woodpiles; Works great, is light, and can be rolled up easily when not used.
