WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?

I was over near Peekamoose Mountain driving around & had to snap this photo. It’s hard to tell, but the hemlock are getting their butts kicked over there as well as many portions of Ulster and Sullivan Counties. Many of these hemlocks are losing all their needles. I’m thinking this isn’t from the infamous hemlock woolly adelgid alone, but also the elongate hemlock scale; Another sap-sucking insect sucking the life out of hemlock trees. The only thing regenerating in this woods seems to be more moss, which looks kind of nice I guess.
