WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
Saw 2 of these little guys while deer hunting recently; One was near a stream and the other by a marsh. It’s the mink. I remember while camped out and lounging along one stream a few summers ago, I watched one of these little black weasels, weasel his way along the water. He never noticed me, but seemed pretty intent on finding food, perhaps fish, and what not. This year, both literally walked under my tree-stand. Mink seem to be most commonly seen near streams where they prey upon fish, crayfish and what not. They can get up to about 2-feet long and shouldn’t be confused with the largest weasel of them all–the fisher.
