WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?

It’s getting kind of late now, but 2 weeks ago the mulberries were in full-swing down in the Hudson Valley. I often find them behind some gas station poking through the forest edge and into the parking lot, leaning towards the sunlight. Normally a bird is nearby squawking away angrily, as he watches me steal his mulberries. I can’t stress enough how great this tree is. It seems to tolerate a wide variety of soils, is disease-resistant, low-maintenance, a fast-grower, and wildlife love it. Some people complain that it makes a mess over their deck or driveway. If that’s a concern, just plant it away from human-traffic, or better yet, in a place where plenty of sunlight occurs.

May the Forest Be with You,
