WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
Sometimes I’m asked about which fruit tree to select for planting; The follow-up question is often about how long it will take to bear fruit. Often it might be 5 to 10 years. For some, this is too long, “I’ll be dead by then.” My response is, “Well, I don’t know if you will or will not be ‘dead by then’ but watching them grow is fun too.” Growing trees is similar to growing kids. We don’t know how long it will take them to mature or whether we’ll live long enough to see the “fruits of our parental labors,” but they sure are fulfilling to watch grow.
