WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?
On this wet fall day, I’m stuck inside and thinking ahead. The “season” or forest activity right now for me is hunting. The next one following that is maple sugaring which normally occurs in February & March. And that got me thinking back to 16 years ago when I began tapping trees up in Frost Valley in 2007. Check out those ground taps made from sumac and striped maple. My favorite was digging up the photo where I used “Imitation Maple Syrup” jugs from Frost Valley’s dining hall cafeteria for sap collection; It’s the jug with an orangish/red label. Good stuff.
