WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE FOREST?

Went to a member’s property the other day above Fleischmanns, Delaware County to check on their apple trees and saw this sugar maple. I had to go back to the truck & get my diameter tape. The tree measured 58.5″ in diameter at breast height. Amazing. I’d say this sugar maple is somewhere between 150 and 200 plus years; It’s hard to say since it has been growing in the open-sunlight adjacent to a farm house. The bark “looked old” but this is a big sugar maple no doubt.

May the forest be with you,
